im looking to buy my hubby a fishfinder as a surprise... what is the best one for use on a hobie kayak?

Well I don't know which one would be the best but here's a LowRance fishfinder that has been set up on another sit on top kayak. So at least you can be sure that the power and mounting requirements can be met. If you live in the NY metropolitan area you might even consider buying the whole kayak. It really is reasonably priced.
