Can I hook up a fishfinder and trolling motor to the same battery?

I have a 12' aluminum boat with a trolling motor and would like to use a depthfinder that I just bought. I'm also not quite sure how to connect the terminal end of the depthfinder to the battery. There are split ends with +/- on the cable. I bought "battery charger and testing clamps" and wondering if I those would work. Thanks!

You can run them both on one battery but you shouldn't. The manufacturer says not run a depthfinder on the same battery as your trolling motor. Not sure why but it will void your warrenty. As for hooking it up, just connect the + wire to the positive side of the battery (it will be marked with a + also) and the - wire to the negative side. ( it will also be marked with a -)
